Just when you think 
You’ve hit rock bottom
no food in the house
and so many problems

Money is tight
the heatings cut off
Just at its coldest
a sharp heavy frost

Christmas is coming 
the kids have their lists
It tears me apart
as I love them to bits

Don’t know what to do
Or where I can turn
the kids always suffer
my only concern

It’s hard to resurface 
when drowning in debt
that guardian angel
You haven’t yet met

One thing’s for certain 
things can only get better
as I pick up the post
to another red letter

Remember there’s always
someone worse off
so be kind to others
who’s laughter has stopped

life changes so fast
