A Christmas Robin

There’s something so special
about seeing a Robin
Perched on the line
Where I hang out my washing

Looking majestic
with its ‘puffed out’ red breast
looking adorable
whilst stopped for a rest

They usually appear
In the depths of our winter
bringing colour to bleakness
when frosty and bitter

Some believe they’re a sign
from loved ones who’ve left
which gives them some comfort
In times of bereft

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas
Without our red breasted friend
adorning our Christmas cards
we lovingly send

Remember to feed them
it’s a small price to pay
for the pleasure they bring us
before they fly on their way..
