Stood there majestically 
In a favoured position 
a proud focal point
our Christmas tradition 

Gifts wrapped under
our decorated tree
presents for everyone 
after a mad frenzied spree

A masterpiece again
stood there on show
at nighttime it’s magical 
with a mesmerising glow

Centre of attention
dressed up in all glory
but only a few weeks later..
a whole different story

Stripped off it’s baubles 
fairy lights and glitter
totally unrecognisable 
from the one shown on Twitter 

The tree now discarded
slumped out in the snow
needles now shedding
as the chilly winds blow

Well that’s it ‘til next year
we’ll look forward to spring
and wait in anticipation 
to what next year will bring?
