Time goes by so quickly 
babies grow up way too fast
if only we could ‘rewind’
and make those moments last

Our home was once chaotic 
full of laughter fun and squeals
mums out there everywhere 
will know just how this feels

Euphoria with those first words
their very first steps
the tooth fairy under the pillow
the hair locks we've all kept

Too soon it's all over
they fly away from the nest
would think you'd be ecstatic 
and enjoy the peace and rest

Silence hits you hard
It's a kind of weird bereavement 
though of course, you're happy
for all of their achievements 

You learn to carry on
until at last they're ready
when prayers are finally answered
You get another bite of the cherry!

I'm now a ‘so proud Grandma’
my heart feels it could burst
it's a feeling like no other
Yes, chaos has returned!

Don't be getting too comfortable 
as you'll spend hours on the floor
making dens and picnic tea parties
fun and laughter now restored!
