A grey and dark depressing day
and again they come to nod and sway
the world's a mess with wars and crap
but every year they still come back

When you arrive you bring a smile
glad you came to stay a while
bobbing so yellow along the verge
amongst the litter of human scourge 

Why do you appear every spring
in this crazy world we’re living in
you arrive exactly right on time
on parade and in your prime

I don’t know why you still appear 
every time when spring is near
whatever happens in this hostile place
you cheer us up with that golden face

Please keep coming you bring much joy
as we manage somehow to destroy
we do appreciate your yearly shows
keep bobbing those heads along our roads 💕
