The family have flown the nest
and moved so far away
So sometimes at Christmas time
my sister comes to stay 

We revert back to our childhood 
to those safe and carefree days
when things were so simple 
before any computer games

We play lots of card games
as we love to have a ‘flutter’
eating lots of Christmas pudding
laced with brandy butter

Reminiscing of long ago
when things were so so simple
we decorate with sprigs of holly
with Christmas lights and tinsel 

We have a few glasses of sherry
probably… more than most!
It’s amazing we ever get round 
to making our traditional festive roast!

We really are so thankful
for our warm and cozy home
and the blessing of a sister
as you’re never really alone!
