How innocent we were!!
I remember them well
those heady school day’s
assembly each morning
all stood on parade
It was all then so simple
You couldn’t go wrong
maths.. Alpha and Beta
reading Janet & John
At break time each morning
we drank milk from a straw
frozen solid in winter
taking ages to thaw
We did square dancing
and swam in the pool
we had fun playing ball games
it was over too soon
Before you know it
your school days are over
your safety bubble’s burst
into real life exposure
You’re thrown into reality
Into the cold light of day
“the best years of your life”
at least that’s what they say!!
