I may be old and fragile
and in a delicate condition
but I'm a trusted family heirloom
an essential Christmas tradition

I witness so much perched up high
some things I shouldn't see 🤭
don't worry I’ll keep them to myself

I've watched the generations 
leave and fly the nest
and noticed over christmasses
their visits less and less

I'm watching closely high above
It gives a sense of power 
to watch the festive shenanigans 
from my observation tower 

I've seen many changes over the years
from those simple clockwork toys
a dolls pram for the daughters
or a trainset for the boys

It's now gone ‘all electronic’
with ipads tablets and phones 
streaming on Sky Glass telly’s
and taking out huge loans 🙀

I go back into my original box
softly padded out with tissue
I'll be back out again next year
for the story to continue....
